Mr. Philip Liang came to Windsor in the 1980s. Philip
had worked in the auto-related business in Hong Kong. After immigrating
to Canada he found work in his old trade and has worked as service
manager at several car dealerships.
In 1988, the University of Windsor set up an experimental student
broadcast station. Philip was involved in the Chinese student
broadcast segment. Later he successfully fought for more air time
for Chinese language broadcast which included news and stories
from Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China. Today Philip is still
responsible for one segment of the broadcast.
Philip Liang has been very active in the affairs of the Windsor
Chinese community. He has served two terms as the president of
the Essex County Chinese Canadian Association. He is a strong
advocate for Chinese rights and is spokesperson for the Windsor
Head Tax Redress Group. Philip Liang has contributed tremendously
to the Windsor Chinese community.
